Amber: Flared or Uncertain
When your symptoms flare up or you're unsure, it's okay to pause and reassess. We recommend reducing your load to prevent further deconditioning and allow your body to settle.
Reduce Load
Decrease the number of repetitions by half or limit your range of motion. Choose beginner exercises from our library to stay safe and avoid overexertion.
Seek Advice
If your symptoms don't settle or you feel unsafe, please reach out to your physiotherapist or GP. We are here to support you through any uncertainty.
Rest & Monitor
Take a break from exercise and monitor your symptoms for 24 hours. If they settle, you can return to your normal routine. If they worsen, please contact us.
Return to Beginner
For 2-3 sessions, return to the beginner level of your exercise plan. This helps your body adjust and prevents the treatment cliff from occurring.
When to Stop and Seek Help
Recognizing warning signs is a vital part of your self-management journey. If you experience any of the following, please stop your exercise and contact a healthcare professional immediately.
Sharp or Spreading Pain
If pain increases significantly or spreads beyond your usual range, it is a clear stop sign.
Unusual Weakness or Loss of Balance
Any sudden loss of strength or balance can be a sign of a neurological issue requiring immediate medical attention.
Changes in Bowel or Bladder
These changes can be early warning signs of serious neurological conditions that require urgent evaluation.
Unexplained Weight Loss
Significant, unexplained weight loss is a medical red flag that should be investigated by a healthcare provider.
Remember, your safety is our priority. Always consult a physiotherapist or GP before resuming exercise after a red flag occurs.
